BRAINY FACTS

1) An adult human brain weighs about 1.5 kilograms. Try this quick experiment the next time you go to the grocery store. Weigh 1.5 kgs of apples, or other fruit or vegetables to feel how heavy our brains are.

2) With the energy that your brain generates, you could power a 15-watt light bulb.

3) The left half of your brain controls the right side of your body and the right half of your brain controls the left side of your body.

4)Covering up that wonderful brain of yours is about 100,000 hairs on your head. In your lifetime, expect to grow about 900 km of hair from your head.  That would mean that you could circle your hair around an average school oval about 2250 times. Wow!

ANSWERS

3) A breath

TAKE THE EINSTEIN CHALLENGE!

This is a tough one but don't feel too bad if you can't figure it out because only 2% of the population can solve this riddle. It's believed that Einstein originally created this riddle, but of course we have modified it for todays time (I don't think there were too many Holdens cruising around when Einstein was living). Have fun trying or see if you can drive Mum and Dad crazy with this riddle!

WHO OWNS THE FISH?

Five people live in five houses in a row. Each house is a different colour and each person likes different drinks, cars and pets. We know that:

Brandon lives in a red house.

Joey keeps dogs as pets.

Marissa drinks tea.

The green house is on the left of the white house.

The owner of the green house drinks coffee.

The person with a Mercedes owns birds.

The owner of the yellow house drives a Holden.

The person in the house in the centre drinks milk.

Jayda lives in the first house.

The Ford driver lives next to the one who owns cats.

The owner of horses lives next door to the Holden driver.

The Nissan driver drinks cordial.

Luke drives a fire truck.

Jayda lives next door to the blue house.

The Ford driver's neighbour drinks water.

So here is what you have to figure out: Who owns the fish?

Wacky fact:

Lovely Lashes

People have tiny mites ( so tiny that you have to see them under a microscope) living in their eyelashes. The mites feed on liquid from the eye, cleaning the lashes at the same time. The mites need people and people need them. Many living things depend on each other.

Salt Volcano

Bending Water

Blast Off!

Gelatine Mobile

Before you try any of these experiments, ask an adult first if it's okay. Some of these experiments you will need help from an adult. Actually, they'd probably have fun trying them out with you. Go to it!
